Carrie Brownstein + Nora Ephron + Jane Austen = Lost in Austen

Here’s how: Brownstein, of Portlandia, will complete Ephron’s unfinished screenplay for Lost in Austen, a movie based on the British miniseries of the same name. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Lost in Austen revolves around Amanda, who lives and works in present-day Brooklyn. Suddenly, she finds herself transported back in time and into the fictional world of classic novel Pride and Prejudice.”

Three of my favorite things, one awesome book news item.

The Rose of Jericho [VIDEO] is a species of desert moss that has the amazing ability to ‘resurrect’ itself after bouts of extreme dehydration lasting months or even years. After just a few hours of exposure to moisture the plants burst to life, uncurling from a tight ball of dry leaves to a green flower-like shape. Videographer Sean Steininger shot this timelapse of several plants as he exposed them to water.

A Blur of Beauty: Incredible Long Exposure Photos

Looking like smears of flesh-colored paint, these long exposure photographs were taken of nude dancers spinning and gesturing before the lens. Using the human body as the paintbrush, these photos are a reminder of the beauty and fluidity of the human form.
